This is a great guide — my inbox is an absolute mess. Didn’t know how much I needed this.

this guide is awesome thank you for writing it. How do you make a custom gmail shortcut that fwds to a specific address tho? I can only seem to create custom shortcuts for the existing actions in gmail, rather than creating new ones

Hi Alex,

Thank you for your positive feedback on the guide! I'm really glad you found it useful.

Regarding your question about custom Gmail shortcuts for forwarding to a specific address – I owe you an apology. Upon reviewing this, it appears I made a mistake. The functionality to create custom shortcuts for specific email forwarding exists in Outlook, but it seems not to exist in Gmail. I really appreciate you pointing out this error. I've updated the guide.

Now, while Gmail doesn't allow creating custom shortcuts for forwarding to specific addresses, here's a workaround that might help. You can add the unique email addresses provided by your note-taking system and read-later system as contacts, then manually forward emails to these addresses.

A potential solution for newsletters could be to subscribe directly using your unique read-later app email address. This way, you can bypass your Gmail inbox altogether and get the newsletters exactly where you need them.

There is also an option to automatically forward certain emails to a desired address via Gmail's filtering feature. For a step-by-step-guide to using this feature, check out this helpful resource: Set Up a Filter to Auto Forward in Gmail (https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-forward-gmail-email-using-filters-1171934#:~:text=Lifewire%20/%20Michela%20Buttignol-,Set%20Up%20a%20Filter%20to%20Auto%20Forward%20in%20Gmail,-To%20set%20up).

Thank you once again for bringing this to my attention, and I hope the additional tips and linked resource may still help streamline your email processing.

Cheers,

Kate

Wow, thank you Kate for the mention! The article has so much precious information! If you would be willing to have it as a workshop, I am sure companies would sign-up for it. At least my employer would. Now I feel the urge to check my inbox 😄
